(Why shouldn't the Q follow the G and precede the P and then the B?) This makes me completely and totally happy. Someone more knowledgable than I dates it to about 1880s, and deciphered the name of the genius who made it as G. B. Chambers, spelled out on the last line, though there is a bit of thread loss on the G and B.
