The painting dates to the early 1900s and was done by French artist Pierre Albert Leroux (1890-1959)

Both feature wood-burned decorative garlands and the text "Minne från Sverige" (souvenirs from Sweden) across their top rims

With a little feeling around, you can find two center pieces that have some give, and will pull all the way out to start to deconstruct it. I'm a little nervous to try, content to treat it as a great looking little modernist sculpture with a secret but you may be braver than I! Late 60s or 1970s I'd guess,
