Description
I have had the 1999 Rocche on many occasions
With only light extraction it’s so drinkable
with the sweet wines not always possessed of the requisite clarity or acid structure for best effect and the ostensibly top-end dry wines pushing the limits of what they could bear by way of alcohol and phenolic extraction
fine-grained tannins and bold freshness
I tasted Artadi’s 2010s and 2011s
Rollin Pere et Fils, Pernand Vergelesses Rouge other_regions_australia I have had the 1999(from 40 to 45 year old vine fruit). A discreet application of wood sets off very ripe but again acceptably fresh aromas of cassis, black berry liqueur and plenty of warm earth character. The concentrated and velvet textured medium weight flavors possess very good punch and evident power on the dusty and nicely balanced finish where a trace of youthful austerity slowly emerges.
